Individual Therapy

You Understand the Pattern. Why Does it Still Feel So Hard to Change?

You may understand exactly why you feel anxious, overwhelmed, numb, reactive, or disconnected – and still fine that these responses take over before you can stop them. You’ve read the books, listened to the podcast sand perhaps tried therapy before.  You’re not looking for more information.  You’re looking for change that reaches deeper than insight alone.

My approach is attachment-focused, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful of the ways you learned to survive and adapt.  Rather than viewing your symptoms as evidence that something is wrong with you, we become curious about what those responses have been protecting you from- and what your mind and body may still believe is necessary. I serve as a guide as we work together toward greater ease, choice, and emotional freedom.

Our  earliest  relationships  help  shape  what  we  come  to  expect  from  ourselves,  other  people,  and  the  world around  us.    When  important  relationships  involve  trauma,  disconnection,  or  ruptures  that  are  never  repaired,  we  may  carry  forward  deeply  held  emotional  conclusions  such  as  “I’m  unloveable”,  “I  can’t  trust  anyone”,  or  “I  have  to  handle  everything  alone”.    These  beliefs  often  operate  outside  our  conscious  awareness,  even  when  another  part  of  us  knows  they  aren’t  completely  true.

Your  brain  and  nervous  system  are  not  failing  you.    They  adapted  to  experiences  that  once  felt  overwhelming,  unsafe,  or  impossible  to  resolve.    Those  adaptations  may  now  show  up  as  anxiety,  shutdown,  hypervigilance,  emotional  reactivity,  avoidance,  or  a  persistent  sense  of  being  stuck.    Therapy  helps  us  understand  those  responses  from  the  inside  rather  than  simply  trying  to  make  them  disappear.

I integrate EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, attachment -focused work, parts work, and principles from Coherence Therapy to help you work with these patterns at an emotional, relational, and nervous-system level. The goal is not to erase your past, but to help your mind and body recognized that what was once necessary may no longer be needed in the same way today.

This  work  is  individualized  and  collaborative.    We’ll  move  at  a  pace  that  respects  your  nervous  system  while  remaining  focused  on  meaningful  change.  If  this  approach  sounds  different  from  therapy  you’ve  experienced  before,  a  complimentary  consultation  can  help  us  determine  whether  working  together  feels  like  the  right  next  step.
